Federico and Carlos, grandfather and grandson, live together on a small banana farm that has seen better days. The banana business is becoming unsustainable for Federico, and he views favorably a proposal to sell the adjacent lands to an investment fund. Carlos, unaware of the family's economic situation, is only tormented by the reasons behind the absence of his father, a sailor who disappeared in search of a wandering island.
